Take cover! A solar storm is when gas on the sun erupts into space. It causes a solar flare, then a radiation storm and a massive burst of solar wind. If it's powerful enough to strike earth, as it did 152 years ago in 1859, it could destroy crucial technology and cause a worldwide blackout for months or possibly years.
